Professionals and Los Primos

Los Primos would not be, without the commitment from many professionals both here and in Cuba. Professional people all practice their craft and never stop learning from each other. Professionals form their own communities and are tied together by a quest for excellence.

Perhaps that is why professionals of all kinds (doctors, teachers, architects, dentists, musicians, artists and lawyers) are our private sponsors and the number involved keeps rising. We all live a daily life of striving for excellence and it keeps us young in our hearts and minds.

Many professional musicians in Nova Scotia and Cuba contribute to Los Primos with time, instrument donations, teaching and of course, with music. Doctors in the province continue to be the largest group of financial contributors and moral support too. Never mind the many wonderful musicians who have become doctors or doctors who play to relax. Lawyers too have many musicians in their ranks and have also donated many instruments. Painters, jewelers, actors, dancers and other artist and performers have contributed to the Los Primos Project. The music teachers of Nova Scotia have been the biggest supporting group since day one. We have had dentists fix the teeth of many of our visiting Cubans free of charge and donated materials for delivery to dentists in Cuba. Many people don’t realize that much of the resent renovations in Cuba have been designed or overseen by Canadian architects and there are local architects supporting Los Primos.

Of the many accomplishments of the Cuba people is that they have achieved a lot with very little. They believe in the power of the individual working in community with a common goal. The power of community because that is where we live, and if that is our goal we can easily make it the best place ever.
