2006 was a rebuilding year but did see the start of the Saumell Primos. During March of 2006 Jeff spent five days with the new group and they presented a concert at the school. There were a number of promising young musicians like Ariel (trumpet). The first time that he ever improvised was in November with the Primos. David (alto) graduated to the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory and may be coming to Halifax this summer with Los Primos ’07.

Ariel (trp) was playing solos that were brilliant. Not only can he play the scales but he has that Cuban lyrical style, too! He was so nervous before the JoJazz show that he though he couldn’t breath. We calmed him down and when he went out to play, be was fabulous. on the home front------ Arielle Legere from Tantallon has joined the Second Cousins to sing in four languages. So has fiddler Laura Watson from Stewiake who sings the blues. Shayna Dube and Kristen Wells are singing now and all four of them in Spanish. They will be have some salsa for you at the Dance for All Ages on Feb 24, 2007.
