From the beginning Los Primos has received the largest part of its funding from the band programs of Nova Scotia. The first two Los Primos trips were paid for by donations from the individual band programs of Nova Scotia.

Now we are in the 7th year of running a raffle for a trip to Cuba. We have Los Primos members all over Nova Scotia selling raffle tickets on a Trip for “4” to Cuba! The bands programs use this raffle as a fund raiser for themselves and for Los Primos. The proceeds from this raffle help music education in both Nova Scotia and Cuba.

We also are very please to receive support from local business. The first trip in 1998 would not have been possible with out the generosity of The Two Gulls Restaurant and Dover Flour Mills.
Other businesses have made contributions and so have some Rotary Clubs. We continue to receive donations from community minded business who believe in the benefits that this cultural exchange bring to our music community.

We also receive support from professionals who understand that the arts and professionals share a life style that included practice and learning from beginning to end.

We have also received support from some special projects including a special presentation at the Joy of Sax concert in 2001 featuring PJ Perry and Symphony Nova Scotia. Six executives challenged each other to learn to play the saxophone in about six weeks. They all took lessons from Jeff Goodspeed and then took to the stage in two teams of three for a playoff. It was close but the Zoot Suit team came out on top. We are not sure if it was the suits or the amazing acrobatic playing of Wayne Crawley. Team leaders, Jim Mills (Office Interiors) and Mark Surrette (Robertson Surrette) joined Robert Zed (Crothall Services) and Don Mills (CCL) to help finance our first documentary effort.
